CAN A COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIP WITH COPS END POLICE BRUTALITY?

In the wake of police brutality many have brought forth solutions to end it. Some say police should not shoot to kill while other say police should use the taser gun. But one solution I have heard was that of Iyanla Vazant.

It was a new episode of 'Iyanla Fix My Life' on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). For this episode Ms. Vazant visited the city of Ferguson to honor Mike Brown after he was fatally shot by "officer" Darren Wilson. During her visit Ms. Vazant organized a few rallies and town halls in where attendees expressed their pain and frustration, and cooked up solutions to end improper policing in Black communities. Ms. Vazant suggested that civilians and cops establish relationships. Her reason? Cops must be familiar with the people they police. A cop who has a good relationship with the community is more likely to respond to criminals in a mannar that is not harsh.

I see where Ms Vazant is going but the police has lost the trust and respect of the people. In addition, the KKK has infiltrated the police force which has been proven by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). So, even if we were to have our Khumbaya moment with cops we still would have to worry about racists in the police force.

But what is your say? How can Americans address the policing issues in our country, and do you agree with Ms. Vazant
